Which bank is BSB 03?

Type the BSB from an invoice. We tell you which bank it belongs to, so you can see whether it matches the bank the invoice claims — the two-second check that catches changed bank details. Nothing stored, no sign-up.

BSBs starting with 03 belong to Westpac.

Now the check that matters: does the invoice say Westpac? A BSB that belongs to a different bank from the one named on the invoice is how payment-redirection fraud looks from the outside.

Type the full BSB above to check it, and if the details are new or changed, ring the supplier on a number you already have — never one from the invoice — before paying.

Why this check catches invoice fraud

Payment-redirection fraud changes one thing on a real invoice: the bank details. The supplier is real, the goods are real, the amount is right — only the account has moved. Which bank a BSB belongs to is public, so a BSB that doesn't match the bank named on the invoice is the fastest tell there is. It won't catch a scammer using the same bank, which is why the phone call on a number you already have is still the control that saves the money.

We currently recognise 32 banks by BSB: AMP Bank, ANZ, Adelaide Bank, Bank Australia, Bank of America, Bank of Melbourne, Bank of Queensland, Bank of Sydney, BankSA, Bankwest, Bendigo Bank, Beyond Bank, Citibank, Commonwealth Bank, Great Southern Bank, Greater Bank, HSBC, Heritage Bank, IMB Bank, ING, JPMorgan Chase, ME Bank, Macquarie Bank, NAB, Newcastle Permanent, People's Choice, Rabobank, Reserve Bank of Australia, St.George Bank, Suncorp Bank, Teachers Mutual Bank, Westpac. A BSB we don't recognise isn't a warning — it's a smaller institution we haven't listed. Guidance, not a guarantee.

Common questions

What is a BSB?

A six-digit Bank-State-Branch number, written 062-000, that identifies the bank and branch an Australian account belongs to. Every domestic transfer uses one, which is why it's the quickest thing to check on an invoice.

The BSB belongs to a different bank from the one on the invoice. What now?

Don't pay yet. That mismatch is the classic sign of payment-redirection fraud, where a scammer swaps the bank details on a real supplier's invoice. Ring the supplier on a number you already have — never one printed on the invoice — and confirm the account by voice.

Your checker doesn't recognise the BSB. Is the invoice fake?

Not on that evidence. Australia has hundreds of smaller banks, credit unions and mutuals and our list covers the larger ones. Treat 'not in our list' as 'unknown', and do the phone check either way.

Does a matching bank mean the account is genuine?

No — it means the BSB is consistent with the bank named. A scammer can open an account at the same bank. A match removes one red flag; the phone call on a known number is what actually protects the payment.
