A free scam talk your members will actually use that afternoon.
Thirty minutes, plain English, no slides full of jargon — and a live demonstration where a real scam text gets checked from a volunteer's phone, with the answer landing in front of the room in about ten seconds. Run by the founder, who built this for his own mum on the Sunshine Coast.
Australians lost $2.18 billion to scams in 2025, and people over 65 carry a share of those losses far beyond their share of the population. The single strongest protection is also the simplest: a trusted place to ask before acting.
What the talk covers
The three tells
Urgency, secrecy, and a new way to pay. The pattern behind almost every scam in circulation, taught through this month's real examples — the texts and calls your members are already receiving.
What a real one looks like
Current campaigns, shown verbatim: parcel and toll texts, "Hi Mum", bank impersonation, the safe-account call. People recognise what they've seen before they're asked to spot what's next.
The live demonstration
A volunteer forwards a genuine scam from their own phone and the room watches the verdict come back — plain English, no app, nothing to install. Then everyone learns the one habit: when you're not sure, forward it.
If it's already happened
Who to ring, in what order, and why nobody should ever feel ashamed. The most important ten minutes of the talk, and the part members thank us for.
What it costs
Nothing. The talk is free, genuinely educational, and there is no selling from the front of the room. Members who want the checking service afterwards can try it free for a month like anyone else — and every household can use the free scam checker whether they ever pay or not.
We do it because it's the product doing its job in person, and because community rooms are where this problem actually lives.
Booking one
- Email us with your group's name, suburb, and a couple of dates that suit — hello@getforwardit.com. A person answers, usually the same day.
- We bring everything. All we need is a room and, ideally, a screen or projector — though the talk works without one.
- Seniors Month bookings: October fills early. If your group is planning its calendar now, so are we.
